Current Status of Ross-Wells (and alternatives)

Effective immediately, all Ross-Wells products are unavailable.

We are rigorously working with our other manufacturers to bring the best opportunities to our customers that are available on the market. See below for comparative products and please reach out to us with questions.

If you reach out, please know that we are swamped with calls and emails and doing our best to speak to everyone as quickly as possible.
As this situation unfolds we will continue to keep you in the loop here and via email. Chelsie & Dustin (RR Owners) are looking for alternative solutions if there is a long term impact to the market. We do also have some other brands currently in stock that are comparable and we'd be happy to discuss options with you to assist in transition if you're wanting to make a change. We've built our business on being honest and transparent and are working hard to continue to bring our customers the best options on the market.

Update as of 1/28/25

On Monday 1/27/25 John from Ross-Wells reached out to Dustin (owner) to ask that we halt sales and do not put any additional product out. They are asking us to return existing product that we have to the plant. There is no formal recall in place at this time.

Official Email From Ross-Wells as of 1/23/25

Dear all individuals utilizing Ross-Wells pet foods,

John has made the decision to temporarily suspend the production and shipment of Titan products until we have more reliable information regarding the potential risks associated with the avian influenza ("bird flu"). We have been receiving inconsistent reports from experts concerning critical factors such as:

  • Mutation potential of the virus.
  • Cross-species transmission risks.
  • The threshold at which contamination poses a threat to carnivorous animals.
  • Any additional data to guide informed decision-making.

Given these uncertainties, we are prioritizing caution over continued operations.

  • We understand that many of our customers rely on Titan products for their pets' health, with some reporting significant improvements in chronic conditions after switching to our diet. We deeply empathize with their concerns during this suspension.

Recent Developments

Despite receiving consistent test results from the University of Minnesota indicating no presence of the bird flu virus in our samples, the most recent submission included an unexpected disclaimer. This raises questions about the reliability of past test results and has heightened concerns. Compounding the issue is new information suggesting the virus has jumped to cattle and resulted in a human fatality.

Additionally, conflicting data exists regarding the effectiveness of freezing temperatures in neutralizing the virus, with credible experts stating that freezing does not reliably eliminate it.

Next Steps

We are actively exploring alternative decontamination methods, including:

  • High-pressure pasteurization.
  • Electrification.
  • Ozone treatment.

Our goal is to identify a method that ensures safety without compromising the nutritional integrity of Titan products. Until we have greater clarity and confidence in our processes, all production and shipments will remain on hold.

Commitment to Safety and Communication

We recognize the inconvenience and uncertainty this decision creates for our customers and partners. However, the safety of the animals we serve and the trust of our community are paramount. We are committed to keeping you informed as we navigate these challenges and determine the best course of action.

We sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding during this period of uncertainty. Please rest assured that we are working diligently to resolve these issues and will provide updates as soon as new information becomes available.

Thank you for your continued support and trust.

Best regards,
Robert L. Wells Secretary/Treasurer
